You must be at least 13 years old to create an account. Some works in the Library are marked as mature (18+); those are hidden unless you confirm you are 18 or older in your profile. Confirming that is an attestation you make about yourself — we do not collect birthdays.
You keep full ownership and copyright of everything you write here. We claim no rights over your stories. By publishing a work to the Library you give us permission to store it and display it to readers — nothing more, and only for as long as you leave it published. Unpublish it and that permission ends.
Post only work you have the right to post. Do not upload someone else's writing, art, or profile picture as if it were yours.
The short list. Do not use Lo-Fi Library to post or send:
Mature themes and dark subject matter in fiction are allowed; flag those works as 18+ so readers can choose. The distinction is between writing about difficult things and using the site to harm real people.
Authors can invite private reader feedback and line-by-line editorial notes on a work. If you send feedback, send it in good faith — it reaches a real person's inbox. Plain feedback reaches the author without your username attached, but every submission carries a reference code that lets us trace repeat abuse back to an account. Editorial notes are attributed: the author sees who wrote them.
Using feedback to harass an author is a bannable offence, and being anonymous to the author is not the same as being anonymous to us.
We may remove content, unpublish a work, or suspend an account that breaks these terms. We are a small project and moderate as best we can; we do not promise to catch everything, and we do not promise a formal appeals process, though you are welcome to raise it with us on Discord. Serious or repeated breaches get a permanent ban.
We send transactional email you have asked for: reader feedback and editorial notes on your works, password resets, and account notices. We may occasionally send an announcement about the service. You can turn announcements off at any time under Email preferences in your profile, and that choice does not affect the transactional mail above.
Lo-Fi Library is a hobby project run by one person on a small server. We make no guarantee that it will be available, fast, or free from bugs. It may change or go away. Keep your own backups of anything you cannot afford to lose — the site has an export feature in your profile, and you should use it. To the fullest extent the law allows, we are not liable for lost data, lost work, or any damages arising from your use of the service.
You can delete your account yourself from your profile. Deletion is a two-step process with a seven-day grace period, so an accidental or impulsive deletion can be undone by signing back in during that window. After the grace period your account and content are removed. We may terminate an account that seriously breaches these terms.
We may update these terms. When we do, we will revise the effective date at the top of this page and may announce significant changes in the community. Continuing to use the site after a change means you accept the updated terms.
